Meet the Chairman and Directors
Nigel Snook - CSWP Chairman
Nigel Snook has over 30 years experience of working in and leading both private and public sector organisations which provide training and employment services. He was Chief Executive of Lantra, the Sector Skills Council for the environmental and land-based sector and before that he held a number of senior managerial positions in the Department of Employment and Skills.
He has been actively involved in local vocational education, training and guidance work as a Director of the Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire Partnership before becoming Chairman.
Nigel joined the Board of EDI in May 2001 and was appointed Chief Executive later that year.
Steve Stewart - Chief Executive
Steve has worked in and actively contributed to the field of careers guidance for over 30 years.
Passionate about modernising CIAG (careers information advice and guidance) services and improving the lives of individuals and the community through learning and skills acquisition and helping people make the best career decision(s) for their individual achievement and development.
20 years experience in the field of skills, learning, education, training and economic development and a proven, successful track record in the field of careers guidance and ICT.
Author of several papers relating to improving people’s lives through impartial quality careers advice and the acquisition of skills to improve and continue to improve life chances for the individual and hence the local community.
For his services to supporting young people and careers guidance and life chances Steve was awarded an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours.

Peter Deeley - CSWP Board Director
Peter Deeley is Managing Director at Deeley Group.
Peter joined the family owned construction company (established in Coventry in 1936) from school in 1958. Worked on site (a good carpenter’s mate), with the Surveyors Department in the office and then in 1961 acted as Site Manager for a new housing development in Balsall Common. Peter took over as Chairman of Deeley Group upon the death of his father in 1986.
In 1991 Peter became Chairman of Coventry Technical College (now City College), Chairman of the Construction Section of the Coventry Chamber of Commerce in 1998 and he is past Chairman of the Builder Employers Confederation (Coventry and Warwickshire) and Heart of England Community Foundation.
Peter is married with three daughters and enjoys golf and travelling.
Paul Tolley - CSWP Board Director
Paul has over 15 years experience of volunteering and working within the voluntary sector with a strong background in rights-based work including campaigning and advocacy.
As Chief Executive of Warwickshire CAVA, the largest infrastructure organisation in the County, employing over 45 staff, he has had the role of bringing together 5 separate infrastructure organisations to form a cohesive, more dynamic and responsive organisation to better meet the needs of the local Voluntary and Community Sector in Warwickshire.
Paul Taylor - CSWP Board Director
Paul Taylor is the Principal and chief Executive of City College Coventry a position he has held for at least fourteen years.
City College was the outcome of a merger between Coventry Technical College and Tile Hill College in 2002 which was led by him. He also led on the landmark £60M rebuild and relocation of the new City College in the poorest part of the city centre which was completed in 2009. The project was part of the wider Learning Quarter concept which included the co-location of a new Sidney Stringer Academy with the new college.
City College Coventry is the co-lead sponsor of the Academy along with the City Council. Paul chaired the Project Steering Group and is now Chair of Governors.
Paul has spent 27 years in education, five of them in Higher Education. In a previous life he was a Chartered Accountant.
Paul is a trustee and Governor at Barr’s Hill School and Community College. He was Chair of the University of Warwick Advisory Board for Lifelong Learning and is a member of the Institute of Education Board there.
He is a Director of Advanced Construction Technologies (ACT-UK) Ltd, a pioneering national simulation centre for the construction industry. He has also been a governor of Coventry University and a board member of the Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce. He has been a Board member of CSWP for some years.
Andy Hardy - CSWP Board Director
Andy is Chief Executive Officer at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust, an appointment he has held since June 2010. Prior to that, Andy was the Trust’s Chief Finance Officer from June 2004, and he became Deputy Chief Executive Officer in July 2008.
Andy is a CIPFA qualified accountant and holds an MBA from the University of Birmingham.
Andy is National Treasurer for the Healthcare Financial Management Association. In addition, he chairs the Association’s National Payment by Results Specialist Interest Group. He is also a member of the Department of Health’s Payment by Results External Advisory Group. Between 2008 and 2010, Andy chaired the Association of UK Hospitals’ Finance Directors Group. Andy is a Trustee on health related charities, providing support both in the UK and abroad.
